Sometimes you find a place to build in, and sometimes the place finds you. This is what seems to have happened to the owner of Na Xemena, in the northwestern part of the island of Ibiza. It is a magical spot where the light draws and brings every edge of the cliffs that sink into the sea to life. It is a place which escapes profanity, given the architect’s understanding that man’s actions should not override nature, with no possible end other than the project fully respecting the surrounding nature and the establishment of a civilized dialogue between nature and architecture. The whole site is in harmony with its surroundings, without fanfare, as a logical continuation of the area and its landscape. From the sea, with its rock and pine tree cornice, it rises up to blend in with the depth of the sky.
